Local heroes from Hagerstown have been honored at the 9th Annual Public Safety Awards for their bravery and service. Firefighter Adam Semler of the Hagerstown Fire Department is being recognized for his life-saving actions during a house fire entrapment in October. Fire Apparatus Operator Travis Barkdoll of the Hagerstown Fire Department is being commended for his coordination and dedication to saving a distressed pediatric patient in June. Both started as volunteers at Antietam Volunteer Fire Department.
